Working out the work out - part 1

Take one temperature sensor -


Clip it to your turbo trainer's cooling fin. Pictured, a Phonak-tastic CycleOps Fluid2. Notice how the sophisticated clamping device has been fashioned to resemble a clothes peg - genius.





and measure -



(A) background temperature, (B) warm up (literally!) and (C) first interval session.

The serial buffer maxed out after 250 data-points, but the initial results are promising. Cafevelo reckons that the jewels are buried in the area under the curve.

Going nowhere fast



CycleOps claims that its Fluid2 turbo trainer gives "real road feel" and we'd agree. It's a great design. The faster you spin the rear wheel, the harder the ride, which means that you can increase the rolling resistance by simply moving up through your gears.
