Beans by Backstedt

All proceeds from Magnus Backstedt's mail order range of coffee help fund team Cyclesport.se-MagnusMaximusCoffee.com. So, if you want to support riders from Sweden, the UK and USA, then drink up.

Right: 500g of Viking blend

[Update 1] It's Monday morning and the beans have passed the (stove top) espresso test with flying colours, but how will they get on with milk? Tune in tomorrow to find out.

[Update 2] Cafe latte gets top marks. Happy to try cappuccino format too if anyone's got a deluxe coffee machine going spare.

Cider insider

Cafevelo's taste testers wasted no time in checking out new cider on the block, "fallen apples". Dry, but not too dry, this tipple should have mass appeal. Get yourselves down to Bristol's Tobacco factory to find out more.

Chips with that?

Today, laptops are as much a part of cafe culture as coffee and panini, which gives cafevelo the perfect excuse to write about IT. Check this...ever fancied upgrading the RAM on your iBook G4? Cafevelo finally bit the bullet after seeing way too much pizza wheel...

...and got hands on with a mighty useful slab of silicon that goes by the name of KTA-PBG4333/1G. The geek in Fabio is alive and strong!

First things first, disconnect the battery and then you're ready to lift up the bonnet.

Here, Maplin's £1 multi-driver gets top marks for unscrewing the RAM plate.

Ease in the memory chips.

And reverse your steps by screwing down the RAM plate, putting the Airport card back in position and reconnecting the antenna - job done.

Did it work? YES...phew.

Worth the hassle? DEFINITELY.

We've just fired up a whole stack of applications and no sign of the pizza wheel ; )
