Bicycle booze uncorked
Forget your fancy wine guides, if the marketeer has the vision to plaster bikes all over the label then you know it's going be a decent tipple. Want to try some? Then a) track down one of Fabio Whistler's associates or b) go to Budgens.

Heras, 3 seconds shy of victory
Roberto Heras had to settle for second place at this year's Brompton world championship. It's hard to believe that Lance Armstrong's former team mate and three times Tour of Spain winner would lose out to a bunch of commuters.
According to the official race results Heras set the fastest lap, but slowed on the second to surrender victory by a bitter tasting three seconds.
Cafevelo rode itself into a world of pain to place in the top 40 (out of 364 finishers).

Lean and bean
Cafevelo cooks up paella (page 58), but the culinary delights don't stop there. "Delhi Rajma" (page 60) is next to appear on the specials board, followed by the wonderfully named "Pasta La Vista, Maybe" (page 103).

Feet take to the street 2008
Today was the day for Bristol's half marathon hopefuls. Top marks to the organizers for putting on one of the best starts for years. Team cafevelo recorded times of 1h24m and 1h39m and will soon be replenishing its energy stores with a water-soluble mix of carbohydrates, protein, micronutrients and alcohol (for more info, see link).

Going nowhere fast
CycleOps claims that its Fluid2 turbo trainer gives "real road feel" and we'd agree. It's a great design. The faster you spin the rear wheel, the harder the ride, which means that you can increase the rolling resistance by simply moving up through your gears.
If you're looking for a soundtrack to spin to, try LCD Soundsystem's 45:33.

Unfold and go for gold
With two Bromptons on the way, cafevelo has signed up to ride in the folding bike firm's world championship event, which takes place later this year at Blenheim Palace, UK.
As veteran racers will know, competitors are requested to leave their lycra at home and instead wear a suit jacket (with trousers or shorts), a collared shirt and a tie.
